International Multimodal Transportation

Multimodal transportation is used in two cases: when cargo must be delivered “door-to-door,” and when it is impossible to complete delivery using only one mode of transport.

Multimodal transport means moving cargo under a single contract but using several different types of transport. For example, the cargo is first shipped by air, then loaded onto a truck at the airport, and finally delivered to its destination by road. In Turkmenistan, multimodal transportation is especially popular due to mountainous terrain and access to the Caspian Sea coastline.

When multiple transport modes are used for a single shipment, it is essential to properly optimize costs and choose the fastest and most cost-efficient route.
